NYC Midnight 100-word microfiction competition 2024, second round results

Earlier this year I shared my excitement over winning sixth place in my group in the first round of the NYC Midnight 100-word microfiction competition. It was my first time going on to the second round, and I was super happy about it!

But as life goes, when it came time to submit my second round entry, I was sick. Siiiiiiiiiiiiiick. Laid out with bronchitis, feverish, coughing up my toenails, and generally feeling like trash.

I didn’t want my second-round adventure to come to a grinding halt due to illness, so I wrote something. Anything to submit.

The results came out today.

Imagine my delight to find I got honorable mention!

Given that I harbored zero illusions about advancing, I’m pleasantly surprised by this outcome! No third round for me, but this is my best finish ever. I’ll share the story in a few days!
