Book Beginnings on Fridays is hosted each week by Rose City Reader. It’s a chance to share the first sentence or so of the book you are reading this week. You can check out others’ book beginnings here. I’ll share a quote from the 56 percent mark for the Friday 56 hosted by Freda’s Voice! I’m also going to link up with Carrie at Reading Is My Superpower for First Line Friday.

This week’s book beginning:

Synopsis:
Stolen identities, a cult, a kidnapping, an attempted murder, and a budding romance . . .
Join Private Investigator Liz Adams, and her lie-detecting Labrador, Duke, in the scenic town of Carmel By-the-Sea, as the pair investigate the mystery of stolen identities. Complications arise when Liz becomes romantically entangled with her hot new client, Brad.
Enter Apollo, a charismatic cult leader, whose mission to save the homeless has a dark twist. Why does he continue to trespass on Liz’s property? She’s compelled to uncover the answer.
Tensions mount, as the stakes become a matter of life and death. Will Liz and Duke solve both mysteries before the damage is irreparable?
Travel with Liz from Charleston, SC to Carmel, CA, and back to discover the astounding truth.
Partially obscured behind gray-tinged clouds, the crimson moon glowed. Incense burned and released the scent of sandalwood and sage.

I silently cursed myself for giving him my real name. My mind churned as I fumbled for a believable story. Instead, I deflected. “You run background checks on all your dates?”
Have these little bits of the story grabbed your attention? I can tell you, it’s an enjoyable, mostly cozy mystery that has me wanting more of the series!

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. It starts each Friday and runs through the following Thursday. Each week, there’s a new prompt featuring a book-related question. It’s designed to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, make new blogging friends, and gain followers. See what others have to say on this topic and link up your own post here.

What fictional character would you most like to meet in person?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
Gosh, I’ve read so many books, that might be a tough question to answer! I think I’d go with Nora, Hester, June, and Estella from Ellery Adams’ Secret, Book, and Scone Society series. I’d love to sit in on their book club and see what kind of scone Hester would make for me. And of course I’d want to spend time wandering through Miracle Books and talking to Nora!
What about you? Any fictional characters you’d like to meet? Share in a comment!
I struggled to think of just one character to meet! There are so many great ones out there.
Have a great weekend!

I can smell the sandalwood and sage now!!! 😉 Happy weekend!
Love the cover and the second set of lines are very intriguing! Have a great weekend!
Happy weekend to you, too, Cindy!
This question is kind of hard for me. Which is why I did last week’s prompt. I think I would like to meet Qwilliam and his two Siamese cats Koko and Yumyum from the Cat Who…mysteries series.
Oh, they would be fabulous, too! I love the Cat Who… mysteries.
Happy Friday!
I’m currently reading Moving Forward by Shelley Shepard Gray. So far, it’s a sweet read.
“Two days later, Kristen was home at last.”
I hope you have a great weekend! 😀❤️📚
