Book Beginnings on Fridays is hosted each week by Rose City Reader. It’s a chance to share the first sentence or so of the book you are reading this week. You can check out others’ book beginnings here. I’m also going to link up with Carrie at Reading Is My Superpower for First Line Friday.
This week’s book beginning:

The ocean is far more than water. She swells with the moon, and disappears on the darkest nights.
So how does the ocean relate to a story about a codebreaker? Do you want to read on and find out?

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. It starts each Friday and runs through the following Thursday. Each week, there’s a new prompt featuring a book-related question. It’s designed to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, make new blogging friends, and gain followers. See what others have to say on this topic and link up your own post here.
This week’s prompt:

If you are listening to an audiobook, do you follow along with the print version? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
I don’t listen to audiobooks, so I don’t have to decide whether to follow along with the print version. I just read the print/digital version!
Well that makes it easy! Have a great weekend! 🙂
It does, doesn’t it? Happy weekend to you, too!

I love audiobooks, but have no need to follow along with the print version.
I wish I could do audiobooks. I’d probably be able to get through more of my TBR pile!
I listen to audiobooks so I can do other things, so I don’t follow along with the print version. I hope you enjoy this one, have a good weekend!
Thanks! Happy weekend to you, too!
The Codebreaker’s Secret looks good. I’ll have to check it out. Have a great weekend!
I finished it! Very good. I recommend it. My review will be up on the blog before too much longer.
I always enjoy reading about codebreakers, so this book looks really appealing to me. Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend! 🙂
Codebreaker’s Secret sounds great!
My first line is from The Secrets Between Them by Susie Dietze:
Joel Morgan was not in the mood to be lied to.
That would get my attention! Thanks for visiting, and happy week to you!
I love that first line. I’m currently reading Deception by Patricia Bradley and the first line is: “Today was not a good day to die.” Have a great week!
Oh, I love Patricia Bradley’s books! I haven’t read Deception yet, but it is on the list. Thank you for stopping by!
Code breaking is fascinating to me, so this sounds like one I would enjoy! This week I featured the first line from The Italian Ballerina by Kristy Cambron. http://gracetogrowblog.com/italian-ballerina-kristy-cambron/
Hope you have a great week!
Thanks, Jen! Happy week to you, too!
I do enjoy audiobooks when I’m making dinner or driving. It’s more about multitasking for me. If I’m going to read for pleasure, I’ll pick physical or kindle first.
If I spent more time by myself in the car, I can see using audiobooks more. Thank you for stopping by!
I’m not an audio-book person either but I thought part of point of them was that you can listen when doing things you can’t read doing… reading along seems a bit illogical.
Although, I have watched a play while reading the print edition in an English Lit class.
It does seem a little illogical to try to read along with an audiobook if the point is reading hands-free, doesn’t it?
I watched the BBC miniseries of Titus Alone (one of the Gormenghast novels) because I just.could.not.read.the.book. No way would I read along on that one.
