Book Beginnings on Fridays is hosted each week by Rose City Reader. It’s a chance to share the first sentence or so of the book you are reading this week. You can check out others’ book beginnings here. I’m also going to link up with Carrie at Reading Is My Superpower for First Line Friday.

This week’s book beginning:

Synopsis:
An Enduring Love Affair Against the Backdrop of A Thousand Year Conflict
The Empire of Meredith has waged war against the Veil Queen for over a thousand years. However, the struggle is unequal. Protected by the Veil, an impenetrable boundary of magic, the Veil Queen preys on the Empire’s citizens. The ceaseless raids have allowed her to build an enormous army of melds, monstrous creatures who are a fusion of humans and beasts.
Then a way is found through the magical partition. An invasion is launched to defeat the Dark Queen. But she’s had centuries to plot treachery. Is the open portal real or a misdirection, another of her evil schemes?
Alexandria’s new husband, Prince Tal, has wielded his formidable magic repeatedly in the struggle. But the key to victory may not lie with his power, but with Alex’s wild and unpredictable magic. If she can discover a way to control it, they have a chance to end the war and destroy the Veil. It requires only two things.
Find the Veil Queen…and kill her.
The skraal emerged from the Veil.
That’s a deceptively simple beginning to what is proving to be quite an amazing book! It’s the fourth in the series, so if you’re going to stick with this one, you might want to start at the beginning and read them all. (I highly recommend doing that!)
Would you want to know what happens next?

Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. It starts each Friday and runs through the following Thursday. Each week, there’s a new prompt featuring a book-related question. It’s designed to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, make new blogging friends, and gain followers. See what others have to say on this topic and link up your own post here.
This week’s prompt:

Have you taken a look at the website and app Litsy? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)
What’s a Litsy? No, I have not. I guess I should go find out what it is and whether I need to use it!
Are you familiar with Litsy? Let me know in a comment!
I have been a member of Litsy since 2017.
It is similar to Instagram. The people are very nice, and I get a lot of good book ideas along with “games” and book prompts you can “play.”
I wouldn’t mind checking it out. I just feel like I’m already trying to stick my fingers in more pies than I can reasonably keep up with!
My first line comes from Worthy of Legend by Roseanna White:
The sea was vengeance. The sea was justice. The sea was the hand of the Almighty, stretched out to slap and strike.
I don’t understand the first line, LOL! I also don’t know what Litsy is, but not looking for another thing to “do.”
I haven’t explored Litsy beyond a cursory glance either. Not sure how it works. Guess I should lurk for a while.
My novel this week is DEACON KING KONG The book is as good as the title!
I’m currently reading Worthy of Legend by Roseanna M. White. It’s SO good!
“The end of the evening was at long last in sight, which lured Emily into relaxation. Too soon, however.”
Hope you have a good weekend!
I haven’t heard of Litsy. I did a Google search and it looked interesting. Sort of like Instagram.
Have a great weekend!
