Top Ten Tuesday: Forgotten Backlist Titles

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out upcoming Top Ten themes on Jana’s blog and go here to see what others have on their Top Ten Tuesday lists!

This week I’m talking about forgotten backlist titles. I want to share some love for books I’ve enjoyed that may not be top of mind for most people right now.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
On the Chopping Block by Jenny Kales
Resurgence (Demon Spring #1) by S. Usher Evans
The Bullet-Catcher’s Daughter (Fall of the Gas-Lit Empire #1) by Rod Duncan
The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
The Last of the Firedrakes (Avalonia Chronicles #1) by Farah Oomerbhoy
The Reader (Sea of Ink and Gold #1) by Traci Chee
The Third Girl (Molly Sutton Mysteries #1) by Nell Goddin
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

Going back through authors and books I’ve loved makes me want to revisit all of these! It also reminds me that there are some series I want to catch up on.

Have you read any of these? Do any of them sound like ones you’d want to read? Leave a comment! Then go visit some other blogs and find more books to add to your TBR.

I’ve seen the film, but never read The Time Traveler’s Wife. I know it was much loved at one time though. 🙂

  2. Lydia says:

I sure liked Miss Peregrine’s Home for Wayward Children.

Here is my Top Ten Tuesday post.

  3. Cindy Davis says:

I have not read any of these. I haven’t had time to visit very many blogs yet today, but my TBR has already grown by 4! Have a great day, Lisa!!

  4. Lark says:

I loved The Invisible Library…but then never went on to read any of the other books in the series. I really need to get back to them and try and catch up. 😀

Miss Peregrine is on my TBR still, too! I haven’t watched the movie yet, either.

  6. Miss Peregrine was all the rage when it came out. The pictures really elevated the story.

  7. I haven’t read any of these books, though I have heard of several.

The Invisible Library and The Time-Traveler’s Wife I really liked, too! Neverwhere didn’t click with me, though I’ve liked other Neil Gaiman books. Same for Miss Peregrine’s Home. The Bullet Catcher’s Daughter looks interesting!

    • Oh, it was! Somewhere along the way we divested ourselves of books 1 and 2 of The Gas-Lit Empire. So we never got the third. I think we need to go find them all, and I need to start again at the beginning.

      • Laurie C says:

I was trying to re-read V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic trilogy before September — on audio instead of in print this time — but couldn’t get the second and third audiobooks from the library in time. It’s hard to re-read when there’s so much new coming out!

  9. Peculiar Children was so popular back in the day. I think I only read the first book. I never did get around to The Reader which I kind of regret.

  10. I enjoyed the Miss Peregrine books although, now that I think about it, I’m not sure I actually finished the series. Hmmm…

    Happy TTT!

  11. Neverwhere is so good! The reader is forever in my tbr, I want to find the trilogy together and the first book is always missing in second-hand books.

  12. Great list! So many of these look really intriguing. Even though I’ve only read one from this list, The Reader was so good (and overlooked) that I also included it on my list this week!
