Word of the Week: April 14, 2025

Word of the Week: a bookish meme hosted here on Mondays in which we share a word that we find entertaining, enlightening, edifying, or just plain fun to say! Share your own word on your blog, then help me grow the meme and come share it here on mine!

Good heavens, I haven’t been doing a great job with my WOTW meme, have I? (This means editing and proofreading is going well, and that’s a good thing, but still. The meme!) I came across a fun feature on the Merriam-Webster website where you could find words that were first used in any given year. I looked up the year of my birth (as you do), and this is one of the words I found that was used for the first time that year.

I really thought this would have come along later. But that’s the fun of Word of the Week – I get to learn new words or learn new things about old words!

Got a word? Share it below! Then share the meme to help it grow! (Share it in a comment, because my Linky Tools is having issues this week.) Then invite some other folks to share their words, too!
