Word of the Week: February 5, 2024

Word of the Week: a bookish meme hosted here on Mondays in which we share a word that we find entertaining, enlightening, edifying, or just plain fun to say! Share your own word on your blog, then help me grow the meme and come share it here on mine!

This week’s word felt like a good fit for election season.

According to Merriam-Webster, this word comes from the Dutch boedel, meaning “estate, lot.” It can be used to mean money changing hands for political benefit, but it can also be used to refer to a collection or a large amount of money that isn’t a bribe.

Have you heard this word before? Have you ever used it in conversation? Do you think you might?

Got a word? Share it below! Then share the meme to help it grow.
