Word of the Week: a bookish meme hosted here on Mondays in which we share a word that we find entertaining, enlightening, edifying, or just plain fun to say! Share your own word on your blog, then help me grow the meme and come share it here on mine!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled Word of the Week Mardi Gras series to bring you WINTER. You normally don’t get actual winter here in Louisiana, but we’re fixin’ to get it.

See that really light pink spot in the middle? I’m in that. I am not built for snow, y’all, and we may get more snow than this area has ever gotten. In honor of the impending historic event, here’s this week’s word.

We here in Louisiana are not equipped for this kind of cold and the level of snow we’re expecting. Our vehicles can’t handle it. Our clothes can’t handle it. Our infrastructure can’t handle it. And I’m a particular wimp when it comes to cold. I swear, my desk is in the draftiest spot in the house, because when I’m working, I’m cold. I will be nithering quite a bit over the next several days, I promise you! And I’ll be wrapped up like Randy in A Christmas Story.

What’s the weather like where you are?

Oh Lisa, I hope you are able to stay in if you all get all that snow! We are going to be in the negatives over the next few days, it’s cold! We were just out shoveling the driveway, trying to help it not to freeze real bad.
We aren’t going anywhere! School is closed today (Tuesday)and tomorrow for sure. I-10 is shut down pretty much from Lafayette to New Orleans. If we don’t have it, well, we’ll just have to do without it until things thaw out!
