Word of the Week: March 13, 2023

Word of the Week: a bookish meme hosted here on Mondays in which we share a word that we find entertaining, enlightening, edifying, or just plain fun to say! Share your own word on your blog, then help me grow the meme and come share it here on mine!

This week’s word is one that isn’t often used, but perhaps it should be.

“Propinquity” and “proximity” both come from the Latin root “prope,” which means “near.” They have similar meanings, but “propinquity” is more often taken to describe a stronger sense of closeness than “proximity.”

Got a word to share this week? I’m having problems with Linky Tools, so there’s no linky at the moment. Just leave a comment with your word, and then invite a friend to share theirs!

Good word! I’ve read it, but I’m sure I’ve never used it.
